Busy Day

I just got home from my son's school. The 1st graders put on a musical play. All the little kids sing and dance around...except for mine! He just stood there like a statue. He didn't move his lips, didn't dance around...nothing. He didn't even wear his bunny ears!

I'm off to Phoenix in the next hour. I need to go shopping and get my kids some summer clothes and my lizards need some crickets. Then we are going to the Arizona Law Enforcement Academy graduation. A friend of the family is graduating, he's going to go on to work with DPS.

Telemarketers!!

I don't know how my dad's name got matched up with my phone number. We bought our house and got our phone number a few months after my dad died, so he's never lived here, his name has never been connected to our house or our phone number. But somehow, telemarketers are calling my number and asking for my dad. Most of the time I just tell them that he is dead and they say sorry and that is the end of it.

However, there is one company that won't quit calling here for him. It's DIRECTV! Even more annoying is the fact that I have DIRECTV and it's in my name and my account has this phone number on it. They call and ask for my dad. I ask them what they are calling about and they go into their sales pitch. I tell them that I already have DIRECTTV at this house and I tell them that he is dead. An hour later, they call back and I tell them that he is still dead. They say they'll take him off the list. Then they call again and again. After a few days, they stop calling.

A month or two goes by and they start calling again. The last time it happened, I didn't answer the phone the first few times but after 6 calls in 3 hours, I answer the phone. They ask for my dad. I tell the lady that he is dead, we already have DIRECTV and that I have been told many times that he would be taken off their list. She hangs up on me. Five minutes later the same number calls again. It's a guy this time. He asks for my dad. I tell him that he died over a year ago. He hangs up on me. They call again 10 minutes later and I give them the number where my dad is at. Ten minutes later they call back again and say I gave them the wrong number ~ the number I gave them was to a cemetery. I tell them that is the right number, that is where he is at. Like I've been telling them for the past year, the man is DEAD! They hung up on me again.

They haven't called back since.

Look What I Got Today!

I got the cutest earrings today from CuteAbility.

I have ordered lots of earrings from this shop and I have never been disappointed. They are always well made and shipped quick. Of all the earrings I have bought, I get the most compliments on the Tacos!

Busy Weekend and New Stuff

I've been so busy this weekend. I worked on the yard Saturday. I planted 5 citrus trees, honeysuckle, jasmine and an herb garden. Next weekend I will plant my garden. So far, I'm planning on planting tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, peppers and melons. Hopefully they will grow. I have a week to figure out how to fence it off and keep our dog out of it, otherwise she'll dig it all up.

I also spent time making new stuff for my shops!

I made a body spray and lotion set and some puzzle soaps.

I opened up a new shop for stuff to scent your home ~ Crazy K Home Scents! So far, I have listed Linen & Room Spray, Smelly Jelly Air Fresheners and Soy Wax Melts. I'm burning the Summer Melon Spritzer melts right now and they smell awesome! That scent just might be my favorite scent yet.

Phoenix Suns Game

I just got home from the Phoenix Suns game. Santa got the boys tickets for Christmas :-) We sat in the 12th row and at center court. I always knew Shaq was big but seeing him in person he is ginormous! Thankfully the Suns won. Here are some pics I took at the game with my cell phone..

Back to Making Soap

I haven't made soap for a week ~ I felt like I was going through withdrawals! So, I whipped up this sandcastle soap tonight. My son picked Cotton Candy scent for it and promptly jumped in the tub after I took pictures of it.

Back Home Again!

We had so much fun on our vacation! I was sad to pull into my neighborhood last night but so happy to see my car sitting in the driveway! I missed my car so much ~ I wish we could have taken it to San Diego instead of the TrailBlazer. There were so many times we were driving in SD and I caught myself wishing we had the convertible. Maybe I'll take it next time when I don't take the kids. They hate the small back seat and there's not enough room in the trunk to take much of anything with us.

We went to the aquarium in La Jolla. I have never been there before so I didn't know what to expect. Well, 15 minutes after we got there we had seen everything and were ready to go. I made my boys get in the shark head so I could take a picture before we left.
Then we went over to La Jolla shores and the boys were surprised to see so many seals. They were all over the place. I guess they come up to the children's pool to give birth. Thankfully, none of them were giving birth while we were there (that's not a discussion I am ready to have with my 7 year old yet) but there were lots of babies swimming in the water!

Spring Break

We're spending Spring Break at a condo on the beach. It is so nice just to sit and relax and watch the waves. This weird looking thing washed up on the beach yesterday.
This little place on the end of the pier has the best fish tacos. We went and ate lunch there yesterday. People were fishing all along the pier and someone caught an eel.
This is our view of the sunset every night!!
This is taken from the balcony door of our condo.
My son, trying to look cool...

Donations for Zachary Michael Cruz

I usually lurk on the Etsy forums for entertainment, but yesterday, I found this thread. I'm usually pretty in control of my emotions, being a nurse I kind of have to be, but I found myself sitting at my computer with tears in my eyes.

I have 2 boys and I don't know what I would do if anything happened to them. A few months ago my 1st grader announced that he wanted to start walking home from school. We only live 2 blocks away from the school but he would have to cross 2 streets without a crossing guard. There are a lot of college students around here who aren't exactly the most careful drivers (I can't tell you how many times I've almost hit one pulling out of the college apartments without looking or stopping) and my son would have to walk down that street. He finally begged me to let him try it just once and I did ~ but I drove to the school and followed him home. He did okay but hasn't walked home since.

There are a lot of shops that are donating to the Zachary Fund. A complete list can be found here. I am donating 50% of all sales from March 4th to March 9th. So far, I've donated $50.

**Update 3/14/09 ~ I have donated $75 so far and have decided to donate 50% of my sales next week (March 15th-March 21st) as well.

I have some limeade and cherry limeade soaps waiting to come out of the molds. Tomorrow I am going to be working on cookies and cake. Yum Yum!!

Sugar Scrubs

I love sugar scrubs, but I hate when I get one and open it up to find a thick layer of oil on top of it. So, I've been working on a scrub that won't separate and I've finally done it. This one has been sitting in a jar on top of my refridgerator for nearly a month now and I opened it tonight and it looks just like I did when I first put it in the jar. I used it tonight and it works so good! My skin feels so soft and it didn't leave me feeling like I bathed in a tub of oil.
